PCAV is always in need of support from individuals and organizations willing to donate time, knowledge, and tangible or financial resources that can help positive parenting become the norm in all homes and communities across the state.
We'd love to hear from you if you have a particular endeavor you'd like to pursue with us, or on our behalf.

Below are some of the arenas in which we regularly need assistance.
Administrative Volunteers
PCAV offers meaningful opportunities for volunteers of all ages to work at our Richmond office, as well as with our community partners across the state. Office volunteers can assist with administrative and clerical needs, special events, conferences and preparations for Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Student Ambassadors
PCAV routinely partners with sororities, fraternities and organizations on college campuses that are interested in planting pinwheel gardens in September, or during Child Abuse Prevention Month in April, to encourage support for educational opportunities and programs that prevent abuse and neglect. Student organizations also are invited and encouraged to sponsor programs and activities that raise funds on behalf of PCAV.
High School students are encouraged to sell pinwheels, host fundraisers and also spearhead social media campaigns supporting PCAV and its initiatives.
State Fair Volunteers
PCAV sponsors a booth at the Virginia State Fair every September and needs volunteers to help staff the booth throughout the duration of the fair. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and willing to work at least one two-hour shift. During the shift, volunteers distribute positive parenting materials, sell pinhweels and lapel pins, ink children with temporary tattoos and answer questions about PCAV's mission.
If you are interested in volunteering for PCAV's booth at the 2010 State Fair, please contact the volunteer coordinator by Aug. 31.
Public Affairs Volunteers
PCAV regularly produces materials to educate parents and the community-at-large about various child development and/or parenting issues, and about the work this organization conducts statewide to advance initiatives that prevent abuse and neglect. We welcome volunteers with experience in graphic arts, marketing and advertising, social media, special events and public relations to inquire about opportunities to assist with special projects or endeavors.
Technology Support
PCAV seeks to remain technologically relevant and welcomes donations and/or funding for software needs, printers, computer hardware and graphic arts materials.
Interns
PCAV offers unpaid internships to high-achieving high school and college students interested in learning more about how a grassroots nonprofit operates. Students can work in one or more arenas, assisting with needs ranging from administrative tasks to public relations projects to advocacy endeavors. Students can work with the volunteer coordinator to craft a job description that fits their particular interest or academic needs.
Donations
PCAV welcomes your financial support during this critical time in our nation, when economic woes are causing more parents to be stressed and increasing the need for the positive parenting initiatives we promote. Please visit our donation page and consider contributing to the vital work we do. Thank you!
